The Secret to Dewy Skin

Dewy skin is no trend - it is one of the easiest and most effective ways to maintain healthy skin. How we exactly get there is different for everyone, and is why it is sometimes difficult to decide on which skincare products to invest in. Everyone’s experience is different, because everyone’s skin is different. There are never two people with the same journey, however there is one thing that everyone can benefit from. That being, keeping your skin hydrated.

Hydrating serums and face oils are the perfect place to start. Whether you are looking to buy your first skincare products, or are a skincare wizz, these are two skin essentials everyone can benefit from. There are of course a multitude of internal and lifestyle factors that go into staying hydrated, we’ll be going into our two most highly recommended products.

Face Oils

Face oils which are specifically designed to treat dry skin, are often made from a combination of emollients and plant oils. These moisturising ingredients work to deeply hydrate and calm the skin. Not only are they great for hydration, but perfect to use on a self-care night. Combined with a gua-sha for your own at-home face massage.

Hydrating Face Serums

Hydrating face serums use moisturising ingredients that help bind water to the skin cells. This helps your skin retain moisture and keeps the skin consistently hydrated. Face serums are easily applicable, lightweight in comparison to some of the other skincare products out there, and are effective in addressing a range of skin concerns that you may have - from dehydration, dryness and fine lines.

Serums are made using smaller molecules, and these molecules are able to truly penetrate the skin and offer benefits on the deepest level. Absolutely everyone can benefit from a hydrating Face Serum.

Dry Skin V Dehydrated Skin - Recognising the difference

Face Oils and Serums are often used to help treat dry and dehydrated skin. These are commonly mistaken to be the same skin concern, however, they are two very different things. Dry skin is a skin type resulting from the underproduction or lack of oil in the skin. Dehydrated skin results from a lack of water in the skin, and can affect anyone - even those with an oily skin type.

Dry Skin is commonly genetic, but can be a result of extreme temperatures, skincare products, hormones and the list goes on! This can often lead to a damaged lipid barrier, showing in ways such as flaking, dry patches, inflammation, redness or irritation. If you experience dry skin, incorporating a Facial Oil will be life-changing.

Dehydrated skin results from excessive water-loss. This is often caused by a damaged lipid barrier, lack of water in the diet, temperatures and more. Dehydration can show in ways of dullness, irritation, increased sensitivity and fine lines. If you have a damaged skin barrier, it’s not able to do its job properly - which is to protect transepidermal water loss from the skin. Dehydrated skin is best treated with a hydrating Face Serum, with hydrating and nourishing ingredients to protect and nourish the barrier.
